I was delighted to be engaged to help The Retail Practice develop the strategy and brand communication for Polarn O.Pyret. This iconic and ethically based Swedish kidswear brand wanted to tell its story better, increase awareness, expand its channels and build its profile in the UK and Irish markets. With a relative higher ASP, it was critical the brand demonstrated to its potential partners and direct customers compelling value for money ie: buy less, buy well.

My role

  • Advised on securing department store concession space – both physical stores and online.
  • Reviewed, challenged and built upon the clients proposals.
  • Benchmarking of KPI performance to set realistic yet stretch goals and targets.

How we work together

Having been appointed separately by El Corte Inglés to help them introduce a merchandise function, First Friday and I have shown how effectively suppliers can work together when they put their clients first.


First Friday has provided deep expertise in programme and change management as well as merchandising, identifying the appropriate focus at each stage and building collaboration among senior management. 


They have provided independent workstream leadership to develop the B&M target operating Model, working with the business to create operationally practical and pragmatic processes, supporting the business to implement them and to build buy in.


First Friday have worked with ECI to build the understanding of the connectivity between the organisational design and processes creating bespoke assessment criteria to enable identification of the appropriate talent.

My role

  • Executive lead advising the sponsor and project team on governance and all aspects of the Transformation project.
  • Review project material, providing challenge and suggestions based on external benchmarks.
  • Stakeholder management with the senior team.

How we work together

Having worked with Claire from Retail With Clarity several times. We have an aligned approach on using data and analysis to inform business performance and develop  customer-centric strategies that create value. We have established a project partnership that supports clients to step change their planning and forecasting practices. I engaged Retail With Clarity to create and deliver a Line Forecasting Tool for Eco Outdoor, an exciting Australian brand supplying innovative and unique exterior surface treatments for residential and commercial projects. Eco Outdoor have a global supply chain, and are now trading internationally, so visibility and control of stock flow by item is increasingly crucial to ensure timely fulfilment of their customers’ orders – without any surprises for their warehousing and sales teams.

Retail With Clarity scoped, developed and delivered a tool that allowed Eco Outdoor to – simply, and all in one place – review and plan monthly sales, stock and intake at item level. Incorporating automated summaries of future intake requirements, the tool will also support longer term planning both cross-functionally and with suppliers.
